The federal government is presenting a budget of around Rs 17.5 trillion tomorrow. The budget will be presented in Parliament after approval from a special meeting of the federal cabinet. It is proposed to allocate Rs 2,414 billion for defense and Rs 1,065 billion for development projects, while a 30 percent disparity allowance is proposed for employees from grade one to sixteen. In addition, three options are under consideration, including a 10 percent increase in salary and pension.
The size of the federal budget is estimated at more than 17.5 trillion rupees, with an estimated 9 trillion rupees for interest payments.
The FBR tax collection target is set of Rs 14,307 billion, of which Rs 6,470 billion will be collected in direct taxes.The target for federal excise duty is Rs 1,153 billion and sales tax is Rs 4,943 billion. The target for customs duty is Rs 1,741 billion and petroleum levy is Rs 1,311 billion. Non-tax revenue is Rs 2,584 billion, and the provinces will provide a surplus of Rs 1,220 billion.
The federal government is considering three proposals in the federal budget, including a 30 percent disparity allowance for employees from grades one to 16 and a 10 percent increase in salaries and pensions in line with inflation, and all three proposals will be presented in a special meeting of the federal cabinet.Rs. 130 million has been allocated for the purchase of drones to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies and to control environmental pollution.
The budget also gives importance to the use of artificial intelligence, with Rs 280 million allocated for AI in the agriculture and aerospace sectors. A fund of Rs 1.93 billion has been set aside for the establishment of a National University in Islamabad.More details can be shared once budget is announced
